Plot

Annie's doors have got stuck and the railway staff need to get the passengers out and then, Clarabel's brakes get jammed, causing another delay. They are both old and tired and even the seats are worn out. Sir Topham Hatt decides to take them out of service, which frightens them. The next day, Thomas takes them with him, but they rock about like Troublesome Trucks, making him hard to pull them. As they slow to a station, the coupling eventually breaks free with Clarabel, still coupled to Annie. They roll to a siding where they completely stop and Thomas goes to fetch them. There are two ladies, Clarissa and Emma who are going to make new seat covers for Annie and Clarabel. They are relieved and they both behave as good as gold.
