Catherine is a mountain coach who works with Culdee on the Culdee Fell Railway.

Biography

Over the years, Catherine and Culdee have built up a strong working relationship, so he immediately knows if anything is wrong.^[2] She is very safety-conscious and was upset by Lord Harry's risk-taking when she worked with him.^[3] She is coupled in front, like the other rolling stock of the Culdee Fell Railway, so she is responsible for warning Culdee about any dangers lying ahead of them.

Personality

Catherine helps Culdee on the mountain railway, transporting passengers and supplies up the steep mountainside. Catherine actually rides coupled in front of Culdee so she can warn him of any dangers that lay ahead. Culdee says that is trustworthy and so clever, that he knows at once if anything is wrong.

Technical Details

Basis

Catherine is based on the Snowdon Mountain Railway's No. 4 coach. It was a 56-seater saloon coach. It was withdrawn and dismantled at the end of the 2012 season, and replaced by new coaches for exclusive use with the railway's diesel fleet.

Livery

Catherine is painted in the Culdee Fell Railway orange livery with cream upper panelling. Her roof is painted grey. In the magazines, her upper panelling and window surrounds are painted white instead of cream.

• Catherine is the only known coach on the Culdee Fell Railway to be named.
• In the magazines, Catherine has buffers, eyelashes and lipstick. Her ticket box is also missing.
• Catherine's Wooden Railway toy incorrectly depicts her with the "Truck"'s body. She also resembles the open-sided coaches.
  • The prototype for Catherine's Wooden Railway toy depicts her with a grey face, like most other characters. It also depicts her in a brown livery, similar to the Truck.
• The specific design of Catherine's ERTL toy, promotional illustration and trading cards are based on Lord Harry's coach.
