Counting Sheep! is a magazine story.
Plot
One Spring morning, Percy stops at a country halt, where Gareth, a shepherd, and his sheepdog are counting sheep. Percy's driver asks Gareth what the matter is, and Gareth explains that he lost his ewe, and it's lambing time.
Later, Percy stops at a signal, and he hears a baaing noise, and realises that it's Gareth's missing ewe, and his driver follows the bleating, and finds the ewe with three newly born lambs on the bank near the stream. Percy's crew helps the tired ewe and her lambs onboard Percy's brake van and takes them back to Gareth, who is very glad to see his missing ewe with her lambs, and tiredly explains that lambing time is exhausting and goes home to bed.
