• This is the first US sampler/promotional DVD.
• This is the earliest US DVD not to have been also released on VHS.
• This is the only DVD to have a cartoon illustration of Duck on the cover.
• Both episodes included on this release are based on stories written by Christopher Awdry.
• This DVD came free with some Wooden Railway Conductor's Figure 8 Sets. It was also available individually through PBS Kids' online shop.
• This DVD uses the sixth series opening credits and the 1998 remastered first series ending credits.

Goofs

• On the back cover, the credits say "Produced by Phil Fehrle," but he did not produce either episode on this release as both episodes were produced before he became a producer for Thomas & Friends in 1999.
• As The Runaway starts, the opening ditty briefly repeats itself for a second.
