The Extra Train magazine story.
Plot
One day, a large amount of passengers are gathered on a station platform, waiting for Gordon. Gordon is taken aback and wonders if all of the passengers really are for him but his driver explains there is a fair on the other side of the island today.
Because of how many passengers there are, The Fat Controller decides to schedule an extra train. James overhears this and wishes he could be chosen to do the job. The Fat Controller, however, informs James he has a goods train for the harbour to pull. James insists he can take the goods after doing the passenger run and The Fat Controller agrees.
James excitedly sets off but soon runs into trouble. The points become jammed and James is soon heading down the line to the harbour. James is surprised when he finally gets to the harbour but the stationmaster, having been notified by the signalman, explains what happened.
The passengers begin to grown impatient but the stationmaster has an idea. As James gets turned around, the stationmaster serves tea to the passengers. The passengers enjoy themselves and soon James makes his way down the line to the fair.
