Turntable Trick is a read and colour magazine story.
Plot
One day, The Fat Controller tells his engines that Bertie will be bringing special visitors to see them. Gordon boasts that he is the engine they will want to see the most but Diesel scoffs at Gordon's show-offy nature. Bertie soon arrives and the visitors turn out to be schoolchildren.
Gordon begins to show off to the children by turning on the turntable. When no one is looking, Diesel bumps into the turntable's lever so that it stays turning. Gordon soon realises what is happing and calls for help. The Fat Controller and Gordon's driver pull as hard as they can to get the lever free. Gordon finally stops and feels quite dizzy. The children, however, find it great fun.
Diesel attempts to get away from the scene but The Fat Controller instantly figures out it was his fault. The children ask for a ride on an engine and The Fat Controller picks Thomas, but Thomas declines and suggests that Gordon, who is no longer dizzy, should take them to make up for looking foolish. The Fat Controller agrees as long as Gordon does not show off to which Gordon promises.
