- "I know, I know, I should have been honest with both of you. But I didn't want to let you down..."
"We know, but you just made it harder on yourself by trying to be in two places at once." - ― Thomas and Nia
Overcommitted is the fourth episode of the third series of Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go.
Plot
One day, Thomas is hauling some logs to the Lumber Yard when Kana pulled alongside him. She asked him if he wanted to go butterfly watching with her, which he agrees. They both go separate ways as Thomas continues his delivery.
Once Thomas arrives at Vicarstown, he was about to leave when he heard Nia and Diesel talking. Diesel had to deliver some gold fish to the aquarium and couldn't help Nia with her garden, claiming he can't be in two places at once. Thomas comes in and offers to help Nia. Nia is thankful for this, and Thomas sets off the collect the hose and dirt from McColl's Farm.
On his way, he spotted a butterfly and realized he had forgotten all about butterfly watching with Kana. Gordon then came by and Thomas explained the predicament he was in and didn't know what to do. Gordon tells Thomas that he had overcommitted himself and tells him to be honest. But Thomas took his advice the wrong way and continues on his way to McColl's Farm.
Thomas arrives at McColl's Farm and collects the hoses. But he has forgotten to bring the dirt cars with him. Kana then pulls up alongside him again and asks what the hoses are for. Thomas makes up a lie and says that the hoses were for the lumber, much to Kana's confusion. When arrived at the garden, Nia points out that he had forgotten the dirt cars. After realizing his mistake, Thomas races back to the farm to collect them.
Once he arrived back at the farm, he collected the dirt cars, but accidentally carries some chickens with him. Kana pulls up alongside him again and asks what the dirt cars were for. Thomas again lies that the dirt was for the lumber. As he chuffed away, Kana noticed some chickens at the back of the cars and was even more confused. Once Thomas got back to the garden, Nia notices the chickens and asked Thomas why they were here. Thomas, feeling a bit embarrassed, asks Nia to watch them for him and he hurries off.
Thomas arrives at the meadow with Kana waiting for him. They kept quiet so they could find the Sodor Skipper. Just they found it, a chicken pops out of Thomas' smoke stack, scaring away the butterflies. Feeling more embarrassed, Thomas goes to take the chicken back.
When Thomas got back to the garden, all the chickens were everywhere and eating the seeds. Diesel then came in and accidentally bumped into the dirt cars, causing them to roll out of Vicarstown Square. Thomas gives chase and manages to catch two of the cars, but still chasing one of them. As the other car passed Kana. Thomas tells Kana that there's "nothing to see here" while accidentally bringing up Nia's name. More confused than ever, Kana heads to Vicarstown to find out whats going on. Back at the garden, Kana asks Nia if she had seen Thomas. Nia responds by saying he was trying to help her with her garden. Kana tells her that Thomas butterfly watching with her. Both then realize that he was trying to please both of them.
Meanwhile with Thomas, he was still chasing one of dirt cars down. Thankfully he was thanks to Gordon. Gordon then re-explained to Thomas that trying to please everyone pleases no one. Thomas was then determined to set things right and heads back to Vicarstown.
Back at the garden, Nia had managed to recapture all the chickens. When Thomas got back, she and Kana tried to trick him for not being honest at the beginning. Thomas then says that Gordon told him "trying to please everyone pleases no one," even when Gordon came in. Just then, some purple Sodor Skippers came into the garden, much to Kana's joy. Just then, Percy came in, asking Thomas if he wanted to play Ultratrain with him, which Thomas says he couldn't because of him watching the butterflies with Kana and Nia. Thomas then states out that butterflies like purple flowers and "Gordon's."
